Gift Planning & Bequests

Benefit F&M Forever

Richard Gelhard ’57 and his wife, Faye, loved F&M and chose to support future generations of F&M students through their estate.

With an endowment, you can support what you love, year in and year out, forever.

Richard Gelhard ’57 and his wife, Faye, loved F&M. They were married while Dick was a student and participated together in College events. After Dick’s graduation, they were very involved with the activities of Dick’s classmates in the class of 1957.

Because of their affection for the College, the Gelhards chose to leave part of their estate to F&M. Their gift created endowed scholarship funds in each of their names. Now, each year, a group of students is able to attend F&M because of their generosity.

You, too, can leave an enduring mark on F&M by creating an endowment. An endowment is a permanent fund that will last far into the future. Just a portion of the endowment fund, usually the interest it produces, is spent each year to support the activity or program you designate. The balance remains in the fund to grow and produce future distributions.

You can set up a fund during your lifetime, either at one time or over a period of years. Or you can arrange to fund your endowment at your passing, when you know you will no longer need the money. Many donors give their name to these funds, or name them for loved ones—or perhaps as a family.

As we strive to fulfill the goals of the Now to Next campaign, please consider whether creating an endowment might be right for you. It would be our pleasure to provide additional information to you.
